Introducing Nicheliving Ambassadors Andrew and Jono

INTRODUCING our latest ambassadors – Andrew and Jono! The renovation duo represented WA on last year’s season of House Rules and now they’ll be representing Nicheliving, a trusted, Western Australian brand that has built a reputation as Perth’s largest affordable new home & land developer.

Here’s what the pair have to say about their new partnership with Nicheliving and what they learned through their experiences on House Rules.

From Andrew & Jono:
Firstly, we’d like to say thank you to Nicheliving for inviting us to be part of their team! We’re very excited to be working with Nicheliving and can’t wait to share our design tips and renovation stories, and hopefully have a lot of fun along the way!

To start with, we’d like to share what we have learnt from our renovation experiences over the past year. Here are our top 5 renovation tips for anyone looking to build a new home or do up an old one!

1. PAINT THE TOWN
Do yourself a favour and take the time to buy the right paint supplies. The thicker and wider the roller is, the easier it becomes! We went for an 18 nap roller or sheep’s wool and found it put the paint on faster and more evenly. Also, avoid painting at night!

2. MAKE A PLAN
This is the most important step. Make sure you have a good plan in place before you start. Draw it up or create a mood board using photos you've researched. It will save you time and money in the long run.

3. SHOP TO YOUR PLAN
We learnt this lesson the hard way, as we did with most of these lessons, to be fair! We once bought a large blue mirror because we liked the look of it. We then tried to base all the other purchases and the whole style of the room around it. It threw the whole plan out the window and resulted in an ordinary looking room.

4. TAPE IS YOUR FRIEND
Before putting up walls or buying furniture, use tape to map out the size of the room on the ground, as well as where the furniture would go. It gives you a real visual of what the room would be like to live in and whether the furniture will actually fit. Tape is also great when painting around windows and skirting.

5. HAVE FUN
We found you make better decisions when you're having fun and not stressing! Have a cup of tea and relax a little, it will help with everything!

All the best,
Andrew and Jono
