With Summer here, it’s time to enjoy everything the best season of the year has to offer.

Hit the beach

With some of the finest beaches in Australia on our doorstep, there’s no better time to immerse yourself in one than in summer. There are so many different beaches in Perth, your spoilt for choice. A simple drive down West Coast Highway reveals some of northern Perth’s best beaches from Scarborough, Trigg and Mettam’s Pool, to Sorrento and Mullaloo. Fremantle, Cottesloe and City Beach also provide great options a bit further south of Perth.  It wouldn’t be summer without taking advantage of one of these beautiful coastal spots.

Take the kids to visit Santa

Summer in Australia also mean something else. Christmas! The sunny season also coincides with the jolly celebrations for double the fun. In the lead up to Christmas you may see Santa’s popping up in shopping centres and department stores. Westfield shopping centres including Whitfords City, Innaloo, and Carousel, all have Santa set ups, as well as Joondalup, Karrinyup and Rockingham. Stop by your nearest shopping centre, grab a snap with Santa and create a long-lasting memory for the kids.

Experience Perth Zoo

The world class Perth Zoo is home to over 1200 animals ranging from native wildlife to endangered species. Summer is a great time to visit with a selection of events throughout December and January to enjoy. An exciting NYE event is also planned, as well as regular walks, talks, and children’s programs and activities. Get up close and personal with exotic wildlife, learn about the amazing animals, and find out how important conservation is.

Spend a day at Adventure World

Closed during the winter months, Adventure World reopens in September for the summer ahead. If you’re looking for a day full of fun and excitement, then Perth’s largest amusement park is a must visit. It’s the perfect place to spend an action-packed day with family or friends. Whether a teenager or young adult looking for thrills, a family with children or a couple wanting something a little calmer, Adventure World has something for everyone to enjoy.

Get to a festival

Summer is certainly the season for festivals. If it’s not Christmas or New Year’s celebrations, then there are plenty of music, food and culture festivals happening. The music lovers are spoilt for choice with Falls Festival, Breakfest and Laneway, to name a few, all heading to Perth.  There’s also a nice selection of food festivals and markets taking place throughout the summer months. For all things culture and entertainment, the world-renowned Fringe World Festival returns along with the brilliant Perth Festival.
