26 Feb Move Your Body At Cockburn ARC
The Cockburn Aquatic & Recreation Centre may almost be a year old, but most people still think of it as the new training facility for the Freo Dockers. The $109 million project, located across the road from Cockburn Gateway Shopping Centre is actually open to the public and offers a wide range of activities to help you get fit and have fun doing it!
Just Keep Swimming
If you’re looking to push your swimming endurance, there’s an indoor 25m pool as well as an outdoor 50m world class lap pool, surrounded by barbecue and seating amenities. Naturally, a spa, a sauna and a steam room are on hand for when it’s time to wind down.
Wet N Wild
There are also three gigantic waterslides (visible from Beeliar Drive) that are bound to provide thrills and splashes for the whole family. They’re dubbed The Rocket, The Pipeline and The Tumbler, and each presents an entirely different adrenaline experience!
Shoot Some Hoops
But if it’s not water fun you’re after, the ARC is equipped with a state-of-the-art 6-court stadium where you can sign up for basketball or netball competitions, perfect for anyone looking to get out, socialise and get fit at the same time. There’s also a junior division in case your kids get jealous.
Sweat It Out
For the more hardcore exercisers, the ARC Health Club boasts a premium gymnasium stocked with all the latest machines and weights, and personal trainers to meet all your fitness expectations.
Move, Breathe, Dance
The club also has a comprehensive selection of fitness groups designed to see to your every fancy, including Aqua Fit and Body Combat classes. Of course, there are meditation, yoga, Pilates and tai chi groups as well. There’s even a Latin Fever dance class to make shaping up even more enjoyable! And all rooms overlook the Dockers oval, guaranteeing an impressive view.
For The Little Ones
The ARC hasn’t left out the children. The Bandicoots Play Centre is filled with treats to keep your kids active and happy, including tunnels, mazes and ball pits. Carnaby’s Club Crèche operates every Monday to Friday, seeing to your kids’ educational and creative needs, offering toys, games, dress-ups, outdoor play, and even a room to simply relax, read and listen to music in.
So the Cockburn Aquatic & Recreation Centre isn’t all about the Dockers. It’s a convenient place for the entire family to get together, let loose, have fun, and stay healthy.
