Weave your way along the shores of the swan river and make the most of this scenic 5.5km trail. This dual pathway caters for all from walkers, bikes, wheelchairs, and prams, making it the perfect weekend outing (plus it’s perfect for your four-legged furry friends). For a family outing, we suggest starting at the Woodbridge Play Space which offers a playground, picnic, and BBQ facilities as well as bathrooms and a kayak launch centre, what more could you need? Plus, it’s less than 3km away from our Viveash development.

  1. Gilberts Fresh Market

Your one-stop shop for local produce, Gilberts Fresh Food Market is just a short 4-minute drive from Nicheliving Viveash. The team here serve up some of the best seasonal and best value products, fresh-cut wrapped flowers, house-made cold-pressed juices, sweet treats, deli items, a fabulous range of local and imported cheeses, whole and health foods, vegetarian and vegan alternatives at each. Make sure to check out this beauty when you’re in the area next, you never know what delicious gem you can get your hands on.

  1. Sandalford Wines

Save this one for a special occasion, Sandalford Wines is one of WA’s oldest, largest, and most recognisable producers of premium wine, with a long-lasting history in the swan valley. If you haven’t booked a table at their award-winning restaurant, we recommend doing so as soon as possible. You will be welcomed by a rustic ambience of limestone, wood, and a grand open fire as you enjoy fresh regional produce and innovative Australian cuisine.

  1. Funk Cider

For a more chilled vibe, check out Funk Cider, located just 10 minutes from our Viveash development. These guys don’t just serve up your traditional apple or pear cider, they brew some delicious flavours from mango colada, pineapple to something called Passion 8. With ample amounts of outdoor seating available and an in-house restaurant that has a woodfired pizza oven and stunning alfresco seating. There is even a playground so bring the kids along for an afternoon in the sun with a side of cider.

If you have a pet and love gardening, then this is the place for all your supplies. The highly experienced team at Better Pets and Gardens are a passionate bunch made up of vet nurses, horticulturalists, pet rescue volunteers and garden enthusiasts and many who are simply passionate about pets and gardens so these guys sure know what they are doing.

  1. Woodbridge Hotel

If you love the feel of a contemporary pub bistro with an awesome atmosphere and killer drinks menu then make sure you check out the Woodbridge hotel. Housed inside a gorgeous federation style building, don’t be fooled by the quaint exterior because this place offers more than just a modern pub and eatery. With a great menu, rockin’ local bands, fun trivia nights and plenty of space for the kids to run free, the Woodbridge hotel is a great meeting point for lunch or dinner.

  1. Bells Rapids Park

A picturesque 2.5 kilometre loop walk, Bells Rapids is a series of streams and waterfalls that make up part of the Avon River. We suggest popping on your walking boots and packing a delicious picnic to enjoy after your hike as once you arrive and take in the beauty of your surroundings, we can guarantee you will want to settle in for the day. Added bonus this family-friendly park is dog friendly too and it’s just a short 15-minute drive from Nicheliving Viveash.

Now if you haven’t checked out Mandoon Estate then make sure to pop it on your list this weekend. With a range of eateries available from the Homestead Brewery (their burgers are to die for) to their fine dining restaurant The Wild Swan to the Lawn, Mandoon Estate has something to suit every group. Ignite your tastebuds by popping into their wine cellar, the wine experts at Mandoon offer a range of tastings, our favourite is their Rosé. This is a popular place on the weekends so we highly recommend booking a table, so you don’t miss out.

  1. Slate Café

A unique place where everyone is welcome, Slate Café is a family and dog friendly cafe located in a special pocket of the Swan Valley. With an indoor and outdoor playground, an enclosed dog playground and a large grassed picnic area, don’t just think you will be popping in for a coffee because this little hidden gem is ideal for settling in for the day. Their home-made menu is one to brag about, our go-to is their nacho chicken burger. The best part? They have doggy play dates depending on the breed of dog so even if you don’t have a pawfect friend in your family, pop down anyway to watch the cuteness.

  1. Lancaster Wines

If you haven’t heard of Lancaster’s famous outdoor tasting shed then you are missing out. Lancaster boasts some of the oldest vines in the Swan Valley and produces some absolutely delish wines from red to white to a sweet and sticky dessert wine. This is an extremely popular location for large groups and wine tours so be sure to book ahead. Not only will you be blown away by the tastiness of the wines but the grounds are simply breath-taking, plus it’s a short 10-minute drive (or uber ride) away from Nicheliving Viveash.
